I'm Tony, and my passion lies in guiding individuals on a journey of self-discovery through shadow work, therapeutic art, and mindfulness practices.

“I projected a persona of an ideal person on the outside: a kind, selfless, workaholic, seemingly happily coupled in a long-term relationship. In reality, I am a chronic people-pleaser in a codependent relationship. I let my happiness hinge on everyone else's, while my own needs were neglected.”

A holistic fusion of passion, self-care and self-compassion

I found that exploring my own self through art had a profound impact on my wellbeing. It also sparked a deep urge to pass on this meaningful experience to others.

 

Shadow Awakening is the result of my artistic passion, my personal experiences in therapy and shadow work, and my desire to share what I've learnt to help other on their path of self-discovery and compassion.

Dealing with the mental effects of the pandemic

Just like many people, the pandemic brought to light personal challenges. I noticed a decrease in my overall mental wellbeing, particularly in regards to my personal relationships. Exploring therapy and diving into shadow work proved to be a pivotal moment. Expressing my emotions with words was often challenging. That's when I turned back to art to help me express my inner struggles and emotions that words often fail me.

Healing through the process of shadow work, mindfullness and creativity

My approach harnesses the strength of:

  • Shadow work: dive deep into the unconscious mind and discover any limiting beliefs, fears, or past wounds that might be preventing you from moving forward. Simply by recognising and acknowledging our inner struggles, we can transform them into valuable assets that empower us and promote self-acceptance.

  • Therapeutic art: Art offers a wonderful avenue to bypass our critical thinking and tap into our emotions. Regardless of how you perceive your artistic abilities, this process can be a potent tool for self-expression and healing.

  • Mindfulness practices: Play a role in developing a state of present moment awareness, enabling us to observe our thoughts and feelings without passing judgement. This allows us to make deliberate decisions that are in line with our true selves.

My path as an artist 

I started my journey with a strong passion for visual expression, earning a 1st degree in Fine Art Painting and Printmaking. Despite receiving recognition for my artistic abilities, I struggled to make ends meet pursuing a career in the arts. I retrained and have successfully transitioned into the field of User Experience (UX) Design, thriving as an UX architect and product designer for both design agencies and corporate clients. But over time, I found myself becoming disconnected from my creative side, despite the stability that this career path provided. Art quickly became just a hobby.
